Frequently asked questions
Will my favorite photos be removed from my phone too?
No. Photos you've marked as favorites in the Photos app always stay on your phone.
When are my photos uploaded?
When you're on Wi-Fi, photos and videos up to one minute long are uploaded right away. Longer videos are uploaded while your iPhone is charging or while the app is open. You can choose in Settings whether to upload over cellular data too.
What happens when I get a new iPhone?
Install muisto on your new iPhone and sign in, and all your photos are there. You can also choose which ones to bring back onto the phone.
Where are my photos stored?
In data centers run by two companies, Backblaze and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Both are in the United States.
Can anyone else see my photos?
Your photos are encrypted when stored. We never use them for ads or to train AI. Our staff never look at your photos, except when you ask us to or when the law requires it.
What happens to my photos if I cancel?
You won't be able to add new photos, but for 90 days you can still view and download everything as usual. After that, we move them to long-term storage and keep them safe for 10 years. If you subscribe again, your photos come back just as they were (this can take a few days).
Is muisto available on Android?
We're starting with iPhone. An Android version is planned, but we don't have a date yet.
